Halloween Safety Tips

Spooky season is upon us! Nights are getting chilly, and families across the District are preparing their best costumes and candy collections for Halloween. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office compiled a list of tips (no tricks!) to help keep trick-or-treating safe.

  • Costume & Candy Safety

    • High-visibility & flame-retardant (if possible) costumes

    • Reflective gear or glow/light sticks for trick-or-treaters at night

    • Wait to get home to inspect and consume candy

  • Surroundings & Awareness

    • See something, say something

    • Accompany trick-or-treaters ages 12 and under

    • Stay in well-lit areas & avoid shortcuts and isolated areas
