A Monthly Communication to Apollo Elementary Families

A Note from Mr. C

Apollo Families,

One of my favorite things about Apollo is our family and community support. We have seen this shine with phenomenal attendance at our Fall Conferences and so many people coming out for our Fall Parade & Parties. When our school community can come together we set such a great example for our students by coming together and supporting a cause.

As we Fall into the new 9 Weeks, let's work together to prioritize attendance and ensure our students are in school as much as possible. Together we can ensure that our students are receiving the highest-quality education possible.

Fundraiser Update!

Thank you so incredibly much for the incredible support of our Ticket to Ride Fundraiser! We sold a total of 510 tickets, which means that we unlocked all remaining rewards! Students enjoyed their Andy's Ice Cream this last week. We will be sporadically celebrating with the other incentives throughout this month.

We are so fortunate to have you as part of our Apollo family. There has never been a time when our community hasn't risen up to support in whatever way we ask. Your contributions will impact each of our students through the implementation of a Regulation Station and funding for fun and innovating learning experiences!

You Rock Awards

Angela Meyer

Please help us congratulate Mrs. Meyer, 3rd Grade Teacher, on being awarded the "YOU ROCK Award"! Mrs. Meyer's dedication, selflessness, and drive create such an incredible learning environment for her students and a wonderful experience for all who encounter her. She has worked hard to take learning beyond the textbook for her students by creating engaging lessons and activities that incorporate various academic and personal skills. In addition, Mrs. Meyer is a leader in implementing various processes and initiatives. Her actions directly impact many staff and students both in and outside of her classroom.

Kelley Allender

Please help us congratulate Ms. Allender, Kindergarten Teacher, on being awarded the "PurposeFULL with Kindness" rock for October.  Ms. Allender is deserving of the You Rock award because she is always showing kindness to staff and students!  She constantly shares her good ideas and resources with teachers, which inspires creative lessons and teaching opportunities.  She absolutely loves her students and goes above and beyond every day to make Kindergarten feel like magic!  Her kind attitude encourages everyone around her!

Mrs. Ebert's Counseling Corner

Mrs. Ebert

Gratitude is our focus word for the month of November. This month, students will be developing skills like emotion regulation, positive self-talk, and stress management. These skills can increase our well-being and happiness.

We define gratitude as choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives. Practicing gratitude helps us notice the positive aspects of our days and strengthens our relationships with friends, family, and teachers.

Review gratitude as a family! Find a place in your home to collect slips of paper. Each week add a paper with a memory, name of a person, place, event, or thing that you are thankful for. Assist your student with writing or drawing if needed. When someone has a gloomy day, you can pull a slip of paper and it aloud together as a reminder of what you are grateful for.

It was great to see many of you at parent/teacher conferences. Please reach out and connect with me if you need anything!

EMPOWER

Staff Affirmation Station

We love to share affirmations with each other at Apollo. We firmly believe in the power of positive connection and lifting everyone up around us. The connection between our staff and our families is so important to the success of our students and school. Do you have a couple minutes to share an affirmation? It can be for an individual, a group, or whoever you choose! Last year, we had 36 affirmations shared from our families. We would LOVE to beat that this year. We have currently had 5 affirmations submitted. THANK YOU!

LAUNCH

Over the years, Apollo has always been a pillar of success and pride. The school as a whole has received much recognition, most recently being nationally recognized by Capturing Kids Hearts and Project Lead the Way. When I think about the foundation of such success, three things come to mind: 1) dedicated & passionate staff, 2) students who love to come to school, & 3) families who buy-in and go above and beyond to support us. Your support allows us to do what we love, to the very best of our abilities, each and every day. Thank you!

You are SPECIAL, You are KIND, Don't let anyone change YOUR MIND
