A Monthly Communication to Apollo Elementary Families

ENGAGE

Mr. C

A Note from Mr. C

We are officially well into the holiday season. This is a time of great fun for our students. Our teachers and staff do a great job of engaging the students in various different activities throughout these weeks leading up to our Winter Break.

I am very fortunate that I get to see the great things happening in our classrooms on a regular basis. I am excited to see the celebrations and achievements as we finish out this semester.

Thank you for your continued commitment and support!

You Rock Awards

Taryn Folster

Please help us congratulate Miss Taryn, Reading Para, on being awarded the "YOU ROCK Award"! There's not a day that goes by in which the students and staff go without seeing a smile and a positive attitude from Miss Taryn. She greets the bus riders each day as they enter the school and helps load the car riders at the end of each day, through rain or shine. There are few staff who get to truly impact and interact with our students from the minute they arrive to the minute they leave. Miss Taryn is a great example for our students as she handles herself with grace and dignity, always offering a smile, and is always willing to help wherever needed. She is a jack-of-all-trades (master of many) and a true team player.

Jennifer Wyant

Please help us congratulate Mrs. Wyant, Speecg Language Pathologist, on being awarded the "PurposeFULL with Kindness" Rock for November. Jennifer has been an invaluable asset to our kindergarten class this year.  She has been instrumental in working directly with students to reinforce lessons and provide one-on-one support. In addition to her classroom support, Jennifer’s presence has been crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of the kindergarten students. She has been there every day, guiding the children to their designated areas and even creating systems to help them build independence.

Mrs. Ebert's Counseling Corner

Mrs. Ebert

Our focus for the month of December is Empathy. Empathy is understanding and connecting to other people's feelings. This month students will be working on the following skills: listening, being a good friend, conflict resolution, and perspective taking. These skills build empathy.

I challenge you to review empathy as a family. Schedule a family movie night and focus on what the characters are feeling at different points in the movie. As emotions are identified, invite one another to Empathize by sharing about a time they felt that way or imagining how they might be feeling in that moment.

Reach out if there is anything I can do for your student or your family!

EMPOWER

Staff Affirmation Station

We love to share affirmations with each other at Apollo. We firmly believe in the power of positive connection and lifting everyone up around us. The connection between our staff and our families is so important to the success of our students and school. Do you have a couple minutes to share an affirmation? It can be for an individual, a group, or whoever you choose! Last year, we had 36 affirmations shared from our families. We would LOVE to beat that this year. We have currently had 5 affirmations submitted. THANK YOU!

LAUNCH

Over the years, Apollo has always been a pillar of success and pride. The school as a whole has received much recognition, most recently being nationally recognized by Capturing Kids Hearts and Project Lead the Way. When I think about the foundation of such success, three things come to mind: 1) dedicated & passionate staff, 2) students who love to come to school, & 3) families who buy-in and go above and beyond to support us. Your support allows us to do what we love, to the very best of our abilities, each and every day. Thank you!

You are SPECIAL, You are KIND, Don't let anyone change YOUR MIND
