A message from Mrs. Hay

We are off to an amazing start at Amelia Earhart!  Thank you for your support for our students and school. We encourage you to volunteer and be an active part of your child’s education.  Here are some ways you can help:

  • As a Capturing Kids Hearts Showcase school we are proud of the work that the staff and students put into making connections and building relationships both in and out of the classroom.  Each month we focus on a character trait.  This month is respect.  Please read the attached flier for information and ideas.

  • PTO (Parent/Teacher Organization) is already busy this year.  PTO sponsored Popsicles in the Park and will be sending out information soon on our upcoming school fundraiser.  Check out the PTO Facebook page for all of the year’s details.

  • Thank you to the parents that have reached out to me to be a part of the Earhart SITE council team. SITE Council is an opportunity for parents, staff, district leadership and community members to discuss educational and district topics. At our first meeting we will talk with Chief Joe Camp, the leader of the Goddard District School Resource Officers.   We will be meeting on September 29th, from 6:00-7:00 pm, at Explorer Elementary School.  Please email Mrs. Hay if you are interested in attending.

Warm Regards,

Marney Hay

A message from the office

As we head into the first day of fall (fun fact: the word “fall” comes from the old phrase “fall of the leaf”—how fancy is that?!), here are a few quick reminders to help keep things running smoothly:

  • Absences & Tardies: Please call us to let us know if your kiddo will be absent or late.

  • Skyward Updates: Moved? New phone number? Goldfish finally got TikTok? Please update Skyward so we can always reach you when needed.

  • Checking In & Out: All visitors must sign in and out of the office. Kiddos arriving late or leaving early also need to be signed in/out through us.

  • Transportation Changes: If your student’s after-school plan changes, please let us know as soon as possible so we can get everyone where they need to be safely

  • After-School Pickups: We know fall sports are in full swing and lots of our younger students love cheering on their older siblings. If you need to pick up your child through the office, please do so before 3:45 so we can keep the dismissal process smooth for everyone.

Thank you for your help and teamwork—it makes a big difference! Here’s to crisp mornings, cozy evenings, and maybe even a pumpkin treat or two.

What’s going around at Earhart?

We have been seeing a few bugs already hitting the building. Strep and vomiting are already in full force. Did you know that one of the main symptoms for Strep in kids is a tummy ache? Please keep this in mind and always take a peek at their throat for any redness or white spots as this is a typical sign of Strep.

Please remember the 24 hour rule for fever, vomiting and diarrhea. This means your kiddo can return AFTER they are fever free WITHOUT medication for 24 hours and 24 hours AFTER the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea.

Now is a great time to remind your kids to wash hands, not share drinks or food and cough/sneeze into your elbow or a tissue.

Lets have a great year without spreading all these yucky germs!

Counselor Corner

Welcome back, families! As we kick off a new school year, it’s important to remember that getting back into a routine can take time for kids. A consistent schedule helps children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. Regular sleep, predictable morning routines, and clear after-school expectations all make a big difference in easing the transition back to school. This month’s Character Trait is Respect — seeing the value in all people and things and treating them with care. At school, that might look like listening when a classmate is speaking, taking care of supplies, or using kind words with peers and teachers. At home, you can reinforce respect by modeling polite interactions and encouraging your child to show care for both people and belongings. Together, we can help our students start the year strong, building routines and practicing respect every day!

Table Talk - Ask your child, “What is one way you showed respect at school today?”
