A message from Mrs. Hay

Fall is here and the end of the quarter is coming fast!

  • The PTO Family Night on September 19th was a HUGE success.  We had so many families that attended.  The picnic tables in the courtyard area were made possible by the fundraiser last year.  This year’s No Fuss Fundraiser is happening now. We appreciate your continued support of Amelia Earhart School.

  • ParentGuidance.org is a website that offers education and therapeutic support to parents and caregivers to help your child with all types of needs.  Check out the link for this resource at the bottom of the Goddard District website page.

  • The October Character Trait for the Month is Responsibility.  We will talk this month about how responsibility is doing the jobs or tasks you are supposed to do, like finishing homework or feeding a pet, and also being dependable and accountable for your choices and actions.  See the attached fliers from Capturing Kids Hearts for more information.

  • Parent Teacher Conferences will be on October 15th and 16th from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.  There will be no school on October 17th.

  • Fall Parties will be held on October 31st from 2:45-3:30pm.  More information about this event will be sent closer to the date.

Warm Regards,

Marney Hay

A message from the office

Why didn’t the skeleton go to the Halloween party?
Because he had no body to go with! 🎃💀

Speaking of parties, our classroom Halloween celebrations are just around the corner! A Google Form is attached to this Newsletter and will also be sent via email. All guests planning to attend will need to complete it. When you arrive, please check in at the front—there will be tables divided by last names, and staff members will be there to help. Please remember that all attendees must be signed up in advance and checked in upon arrival. This year’s Halloween parade will look a little different— ALL parents will be in the Gym this year. The parade will start at 2:45pm, and parties will follow. Parents may begin checking in at 2:30pm and head to the GYM.

Make sure you sign up for Fall Conferences! Attending fall conferences is an important way to support your child’s academic success. Conferences provide an opportunity to connect with teachers, learn about your student’s progress, and discuss strategies to help them thrive both in and out of the classroom. Your involvement makes a big difference in building a strong foundation for the rest of the school year.

Keep your eyes open for Red Ribbon Week / Food Drive Donation information!

As always, thank you for keeping the office updated on any transportation changes—it helps us ensure all students get home safely.

Finally, Mrs. Johnson would like to send a huge THANK YOU to all of our families for reading the Family Connection letter and for generously donating items for our PLTW Science activities. Your support makes hands-on learning possible and so meaningful for our students!

What’s going around at Earhart?

We have been getting several reports of Hand Foot and Mouth in the past few weeks as well as coughs, congestion and fevers. HFM & what to look for-small blisters or red spots on the palms or soles of hands and feet and on fingers and toes. These can also be in the mouth and on the throat as well as other areas of the body, but these are the most typical areas.

When to keep your child home-If your child has a fever, they must be fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT medication before returning to school.

When in doubt call the building and we can discuss the district’s protocols.

Character Focus: Responsibility & Caring for Emotional Health
This month we highlight the character trait Responsibility, which includes not only doing chores and homework—but also taking care of our emotions and relationships. ParentGuidance.org offers a wonderful starting point with their free video “Emotional Regulation – Part 1: Recognizing What’s Wrong,” helping families learn to spot emotional stress before it escalates.
By watching together and talking about what you notice, families can practice emotional awareness—and model how being responsible includes tending to our inner world.
