A message from Mrs. Hay

Greetings Earhart Families:

We are coming to the end of the 3rd quarter.  Remember that Spring Break is March 16th-20th.  Thank you for attending conferences and for supporting your child’s education.  We always have a great turnout and appreciate your dedication to your students and Amelia Earhart.

On Thursday, March 12th, we will be practicing an evacuation drill to Goddard High School.  This is part of our building crisis plan and is in preparation if we ever needed to evacuate to an off-site location.  More information will be emailed prior to March 12th.

Our character trait for the month is Cooperation.  Cooperation is when people work together to achieve a common goal.  Your students will be learning more about cooperation and practicing this life skill.

Attendance in school is so important.  Missing just two days a month adds up to 18 days a school year-which is like missing a whole month of school.  Did you know that, starting in preschool and kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school. Missing 10%, or about 2 days each month over the course of a school year, can make it harder to learn to read. If you need any help or support with student attendance and tardies, please reach out to the school to see how we can help.

A message from the office

Hello Earhart Families,

Why shouldn’t you borrow money from a leprechaun?
Because they’re always a little short! 🍀

We absolutely loved seeing so many of you during conferences! It’s always such a gift to partner with you and celebrate your students’ growth together. Thank you for taking the time to connect with us.

We are so excited for spring to start showing its face! As you know, this time of year can keep us guessing — the building can be cold one minute and warm the next, just like the weather outside. All that to say, please send your kiddos in peelable layers so they can stay comfortable throughout the day.

Staff Appreciation Week is coming up in May, and we are so excited to celebrate our incredible teachers and staff! We are currently looking for donations of gift cards (from anywhere), small business items, experiences, or themed gift baskets to include in our staff drawings. If you own a business or would like to contribute, we would be so grateful for your support. This is a wonderful way to show our staff how much they are appreciated for everything they do for our students each and every day.

Lunch Schedule Reminder

We love when families join their students for lunch! Here is a quick reminder of our schedule:

Kindergarten: 11:00–11:25

1st Grade: 11:30–11:55

3rd Grade: 12:00–12:25

2nd Grade: 12:30–12:55

4th Grade: 1:00–1:25

If you plan to join your child for lunch, please let the teacher know ahead of time so a hot lunch is not ordered. Arrive 5–10 minutes early to allow time to sign in at the office.

 End-of-Day Pickups:

Please remember that there are no office pickups after 3:45 PM due to bus dismissal procedures.

Reporting Absences

If your student will be absent, please call the office to notify us.
A doctor’s note is required if a student is out for more than three consecutive days.

Student Fees

Student fees can be paid by logging into Skyward and selecting “Fees and Fee Payments.”

Authorized Visitors & Pickups

If a family member is picking up your student or joining them for lunch and they are not listed in Skyward, we must have written approval from you ahead of time before they can enter the building or take your student.

As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership. We are so lucky to serve your families and watch your students grow each day!

What's going around EAR?

Flu- The flu is still circulating. Common symptoms include: Fever, cough, body aches, nausea and sore throat
Tummy aches- Many students are experiencing stomachaches, which can be caused by: Viral stomach bugs, Flu, stress or anxiety, Or even strep throat (see below!)

Strep- One important reminder for families: For elementary-age children, a tummy ache can be one of the biggest complaints with strep. Many kids do not complain of a sore throat at all and may just say their stomach hurts. Other common symptoms: Fever, headache, nausea, red throat. As the weather warms up and kids spend more time outdoors, we typically see illness numbers start to decline. Fresh air, sunshine, and less close indoor contact all help reduce the spread of germs.

Important Reminder- Kiddos should remain home until they are Fever-Free / Vomit & Diarrhea free for 24 hours WITHOUT medication.

Counselor Corner

This month’s focus is Cooperation. One way to think about cooperation is working together to reach shared goals. As a family, take some time to talk about how this definition applies at home. What are some goals you share? This might include working together to keep the house tidy, getting everyone out the door on time in the morning, or supporting one another during busy or stressful moments.

Cooperation also includes supporting one another emotionally. When children experience big feelings or a meltdown, it can be a powerful opportunity to model healthy ways to cope. Children learn how to manage emotions by watching the adults around them. One helpful strategy is to name your own feelings and what helps you calm down. For example: “I feel frustrated when things don’t go as planned. I need to take a few deep breaths to help my body calm down.” Using simple language such as “I feel ___ when ___ . I need ___.” teaches children how to recognize their emotions and understand what strategies can help their bodies settle.

Research shows that children who are taught emotional regulation skills develop stronger problem-solving abilities and resilience. By staying calm, naming feelings, and modeling healthy coping strategies, we help our children learn that big emotions are normal—and that there are healthy ways to work through them.

By working together and modeling healthy ways to handle emotions, families help children learn that cooperation isn’t just about tasks—it’s also about supporting each other through challenges and celebrating shared successes!
