Happy New Year Earhart Families:

Welcome Back from our winter vacation.  I hope everyone had a fun and restful break and you were able to spend time together as a family.  Our :”Character Trait of the Month” is Perseverance.  Please check out the attached flier for more information.

The “Character Trait of the Month” and the “Positive Office Referral” for staff and students is a wonderful way of recognizing others for being good citizens and for helping and supporting others. Implementing a "Character Trait of the Month" alongside a "Positive Office Referral" system creates a powerful culture of appreciation that benefits both students and staff.  If you would like to recognize a staff member please fill out this form and return it to the office.

Attendance in school is so important.  Missing just two days a month adds up to 18 days a school year-which is like missing a whole month of school.  Did you know that, starting in preschool and kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school. Missing 10%, or about 2 days each month over the course of a school year, can make it harder to learn to read. If you need any help or support with student attendance and tardies, please reach out to the school to see how we can help.

A message from the office

Hello Earhart Families,

Welcome back and Happy January! We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful winter break and is returning rested and ready for an exciting new year.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the families and staff who left such kind comments about us receiving the District Attitude Award. Your support means the world to us—we truly have the best community!

A few quick reminders as we settle back in:

End-of-day pickups: Please remember that there are no office pickups after 3:45 PM due to bus dismissal.

Reporting absences: If your student will be absent, please make sure to call the office to let us know.

A doctor’s note is required if a student is out for more than three days.

Student fees: Fees can be paid by logging into Skyward and selecting “Fees and Fee Payments.”

Authorized visitors & pickups: If a family member is picking up your student or joining them for lunch and they are NOT listed in Skyward, we must have written approval from you ahead of time before we can allow them to enter the building or take your student.

Thank you for helping us start the new year smoothly—we’re looking forward to a great January!

What's going around EAR?

Short answer: everything. Long answer: all things sneezy, snotty, and generally uninvited.
We’re seeing a big spike in respiratory illnesses like Flu, RSV, and Covid making the rounds right now. Common symptoms include coughing, runny or stuffy noses, body aches, chills—and if it’s the flu, a surprise high fever that shows up like it owns the place. The good news? For most people, symptoms clear up on their own in a few days. The only school rule to remember is that students must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning. Now is the perfect time to remind kiddos to:

Sneeze into an elbow or tissue (not their hands, friends, or the open air 😅)
Wash hands like they’re scrubbing for a cooking show finale

Let’s work together to keep these germs from spreading so everyone can enjoy their breaks not stuck on the couch feeling icky and surrounded by tissues.

Thanks for helping keep Earhart healthy! 💙

Counselor Corner

This month we are focusing on perseverance—the ability to keep trying, stay motivated, and work through challenges even when things feel difficult.

Students will be learning what perseverance looks like in the classroom, on the playground, and at home, and how small daily efforts help them grow stronger and more confident.

As we return from break, it’s also a great time to help students get back into their routines. Research shows that predictable routines help children feel more secure and comfortable, supporting positive behavior and social-emotional development. In addition, studies have found that students with consistent daily routines show better attention, stronger academic performance, and improved ability to manage stress. Establishing habits like steady sleep schedules, regular homework time, and predictable morning routines helps children return to school ready to learn and better able to show perseverance throughout the day.
